Jivamukti Yoga Teacher Training ESSAY by KARO to Sharon: (September 2012)
Why I want to become a Jivamukti Yoga Teacher and what I plan to do after graduation: “Teach what you know and learn what you don’t” something I live real strongly by, so practicing Jivamukti on a daily basis and becoming a skilled student ready to take on Teacher Training next year, is my main goal in life at the moment. I feel really strong about this, as a Sea Shepherd, a yogi, a spiritual activist, this is the next step; this is what I need to be doing. Jivamukti Yoga has given me the opportunity to reinvent myself, to restore my energy, soul, heart and mind it has given me the space and practice to go through all that. I feel so much lighter, happier and most of all in my body. I am in such a great headspace because of it, hence why I want to become a teacher, just the simple fact that I can give this gift to others, because like Paul Watson and Margaret Mead I believe in the power of the individual to quote: “A small group of thoughtful people could change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” Margaret Mead. That’s just the power you can have as an individual, let alone the difference you can make constantly and significantly as a Jivamukti Yoga Teacher, I just want to spread the message of love, truth and encourage people to not just say the words but live them.
It has been such a beautiful journey so far, through being a Sea Shepherdess (Jivamukti Yoga Sydney generously offered all crew a free membership) I was enabled to start yet another incredible journey, this happened after my second class, that’s where it happened, the transformation, that night I cycled back home and I set myself a new goal in life, becoming a Jivamukti Yoga Teacher. I am so focused, devoted and determined to make this happen, breathing through the pain, the challenge this practice can bring, but also acknowledging the truth, love and happiness the practice is given me all at the same time. I am studying the method & attending at least a class a day at Jivamukti Yoga Sydney (where all the teachers are INCREDIBLE and so supportive, teachers like Keith, Sandy, Katie and Anna make me want to become a teacher even more, they bring such clarity & inspiration) to get ready for Teacher Training next year, I think I will be a very dynamic teacher, actively calm, calmly active, encouraging and inspiring others, bringing the gift and strong ethical message of Jivamukti all over the world, that’s what I want to do, I hope to return to Sydney after Teacher Training to teach at Jivamukti Yoga Sydney and set up special Jivamukti Yoga events all over Australia and hopefully the world.
